Entlang der IGS ist eine umfassende Sanierung zur Erhöhung der Verkehrssicherheit, insbesondere für Schülerinnen und Schüler, geplant. Vorgesehen sind Bodenindikatoren sowie die Anrampung des südlichen Gehwegs und der Mittelinsel. Zur Aufwertung des Straßenraums erfolgen Begrünungsmaßnahmen, einschließlich neuer Baumscheiben im Bereich der Stellplätze. Zudem wird die Kreuzung Pfalzstraße/Altenbekener Damm umgestaltet, um die Verkehrsführung für Rad-, Fuß- und Kfz-Verkehr sicherer und komfortabler zu gestalten.
